Default Salvaging

I don't know if this is alreaddy set, but what it seemed like to me when I attempted to do it, it was not.

I feel like when you have a weapon that has 2 mod upgrades on it, and when you go to Expert Salvage it, you should be able to decide which mod upgrade you wish to have, instead of it randomly selecting it for you?

For instance, if you have...You have a non-max, high req bow with a Vamp. Bow string of 5/-1, and a grip for something goofy that is worthless, and when you go to Expert Salvage it, it gives you the goofy item you don't want.

And another, had an Insightful Staff of Fortitude.
Low dmg
but had +1 energy (insightful staff head)
and 27+ Health (fortitude)
and I salvaged it and I got the Insightful staff head? Which is something I didn't wish to have.

I guess this was from experience that I had with a weapon and it had 2 mod upgrades (I believe, claimed I unlocked them) and when I went to expect salvage it, it gave me the one I didn't want, some kind of mod that Lengthens Poison. I don't know if it gives you both Mod Upgrades, or just a Random select, but I feel like you should be able to decide which mod upgrade you want/need.

If someone knows that it gives you both mod upgrades, get back to me on that and I will delete this post and sorry for the waste of time.
If not, I feel like this would be more helpful in some cases.

Edited: Also, would like to have an option with Armors dropped on the ground. You can get armors and when you salvage it, you get a random item you may not wish to have. For instance, you get Armor dropped by the Charr near Piken Square. When you Salvage this Axefiends armor you get 5 Iron, but when you salvage another you can get 2 Tanned Hide Squares. Wish it would give you the option in saying

If you Salvage this item you can get either
2 Iron Ingots or 4 Wood Planks or 3 Tanned Hide Squares.

Something in that nature, and you decide which crafting material you get out of the items you salvage.

Double Edit (I guess):

Well, with common materials is what I mean to select. Sometimes people need to gain Tanned Hide Squares and need to sometimes get so many of 1 armor just to salvage 3 squares off of 1 of them. Plus, when you are salvaging items, I would think you should be able to know what you want to remove/make off of that item.

I agree with Kill, I have been trying to upgrade my primary weapon (Eternal Bow) to a "Sundering" Eternal Bow "Of Fortitude" for three weeks now. I have found three bows with the upgrade that I desired (two fortitudes and one sundering) but all three salvage attempts have yielded the upgrade I DID NOT want. I would be nice to have the option to choose which upgrade we are attempting to salvage even if, by offering the choice, the chance of a successful salvage were halved perhaps? I dunno, maybe just all part of the game.

I guess I will continue my search for the Fortitude bow grip and sundering bow string now. thanks for listening.

My luck and I just get 5 pieces of wood and lose both unlocked items...

I was thinking about this before and if you were able to choose the upgrade to salvage, it should at least give you a better % chance of getting what you want.

it is good as it is imho, choosing component would be artificial and yes, I already took off the ebon string from ebon bow of fortitude (+30)

How about a new salvage kit? The Professional Salvage kit offers 10 attempts at salvaging and costs 1k, you can select what you want to salvage. The price tag means you cant get lots of cruddy weapons and salvage them for a profit.

I think the part chance plays in mmorpg is important to keep the excitement and interest levels up. Once it is predictable it loses some of its lustre. IMHO.

I can see both sides. Although it would be nice to be able to choose which upgrade you are attempting to salvage, but then I wouldnt have had to go on my three + week quest to find the upgrades that I am seeking now would I? My only other problem is that I am addicted to this damn game.......

I'd like to be able to choose what mod gets salvaged also, but think it should be a bit harder than that.

I say put some expert salvager NPC's spread across remote areas of the map and have them charge you, say, 5k for each salvage.

I do wish for that option. When i seen the superior salvage kit i almost creid. Then I found out it was a glorifed expert. I want a ultra salvage kit: Choose the weapon mod salvaged, which always salvages, always salvages runes from personal armor and enemy armor. higher chance of getting rare materials.

I wish for the option too. If you want to think about it realistically, if you were salvaging something, would you keep the crappier components? Nope.
